This year OCA are taking on the challenge of the Bridge to Brisbane 10km or 5km run or walk in August. Not only are they excited to be involved in such a great event, they’re also taking part to make a difference in their community. OCA runners and walkers are using this opportunity to fundraise for The Pyjama Foundation, an inspirational cause that helps educate children in foster care in Australia.
The foundation was established in 2004 after the founder became aware of the alarmingly poor literacy and numeracy levels of children in foster care. The foundation has since established their Love of Learning Program, where volunteers (Pyjama Angels) are recruited, screened and trained to provide sessions where they read books and play educational games with the children.
Taking part in doing the Bridge to Brisbane challenge is a great opportunity to raise money, build awareness and contribute to this unique organisation which is making a positive impact.
A fundraising webpage has been set-up on Everyday Hero under the OCA banner so anyone can support them by making donations towards the cause. Fundraising has already started, with a goal of raising $8000!
